Recurring crypto buys: what the fees add up to
Buying a little every week spreads your timing, but every purchase pays its own fee. Over a year, small fees add up.
Worked example
A$100 a week at a 0.6% fee pays A$0.60 each time: A$31.20 over a year, before spreads. A A$1 fixed fee looks small, but on the same purchases it costs more:
| Buying for | 0.6% fee | A$1 fixed fee |
|---|---|---|
| 1 week | A$0.60 | A$1.00 |
| 13 weeks | A$7.80 | A$13.00 |
| 52 weeks | A$31.20 | A$52.00 |
Fixed fees
A A$1 fixed fee is 1% of a A$100 purchase but 0.25% of A$400. Withdrawing after every small buy repeats the withdrawal fee each time too.
Check what you actually paid
Your exchange's trade export lists the fee on every purchase. The trade fee analyser totals them in your own browser; the file isn't uploaded.
