Privacy policy
Last updated 30 October 2026
CoinWharf compares what it costs to buy crypto at Australian exchanges. You don't need an account, and we never ask for your name, email address or financial details. CoinWharf is run by Matthew Goodwin (ABN 47 747 430 663). This page explains the small amount of information involved when you visit, and who handles it. We handle personal information in line with the Australian Privacy Principles.
What we collect
Very little. There's no sign-up, no advertising and no tracking pixels. CoinWharf doesn't set cookies or use local storage, and we don't build profiles of visitors. Cloudflare, which hosts the site, may set a short-lived security cookie to tell people apart from automated traffic; it isn't used for advertising or to follow you to other sites.
The trade-history analyser reads the CSV file you choose with a script in your own browser. The file is never sent to us or anyone else, and it's gone when you close the page.
The calculators (buying, selling, wallet delivery and the fee scenario) don't store what you type. The amounts and coin you choose travel in the page address (for example /?aud=500&coin=BTC), so they appear in your browser history and in the short-lived request logs described below.
Information handled when you visit
- Hosting. CoinWharf runs on Cloudflare. As with any website, every request involves your IP address, browser and device type, the page address and the time. Cloudflare uses these to deliver the page and protect the site from attacks. The site's own request logs are kept for no more than 7 days, to find and fix faults.
- Visitor statistics. We use Cloudflare Web Analytics to count visits and measure how quickly pages load. It doesn't use cookies or local storage, and Cloudflare says it doesn't fingerprint visitors. It records details such as the page visited, the referring site, browser and device type, country, and page-load timings.
- Prices and fees. Our servers fetch prices from CoinGecko, and order books and withdrawal fees from the exchanges' public data feeds, on a schedule. Those requests contain nothing about you.
Links to exchanges and other sites
When you follow a link to an exchange, CoinGecko or any other site, that site's own privacy policy applies. We don't receive anything back from them about you.
Information processed outside Australia
Cloudflare operates a global network, so information about your visit may be processed outside Australia, including in the United States. Your browser doesn't contact CoinGecko or the exchanges when you use this site; only our servers do, and they send nothing about you.
What we don't do
We don't sell or rent information about visitors, share it for marketing, or see anything in your exchange accounts.
Questions and complaints
Because we don't keep personal information beyond short-lived logs, there's usually nothing on file to look up or correct. If you're not satisfied with how a privacy concern has been handled, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.
Changes to this policy
If CoinWharf starts collecting anything new, for example accounts, email alerts or affiliate links, we'll update this page first and change the date at the top.
